Village Sights

Place des Arcades is the central square and nucleus of the village. Its beautiful cloistered walkways are characteristic of a bastide town, and create an extraordinarily theatrical atmosphere which is only accentuated by the busy restaurants, the weekly market and musical soirees frequently held in the summer months.
Place de la Rose was originally a meeting place for pilgrims. La Maison du Tonnac served as a resting place for Louis XIII.

The Esplanade is a tree lined promenade running along the North Western edge of the village completed in 1617. It now serves as a great boule playing location as well as staging many festive evenings with floodlit dancing and gastronomic dinners in the summer.
The Pechmiral, Occitan for ‘place with a view of the well’, is a promontory with spectacular panoramic views. A statue of the Virgin Mary was placed there to raise moral after the Franco-Prussian war.
The Porte des Garrics (gate of oaks). A fine example of Thirteenth Century military architecture.
The Fourteenth Century Eglise de Notre Dame de l’Assumption. Hosts musical events throughout the summer.
